Flashy colourful stadia dominate the news. Architecture has been reduced to the number of colours a building can be illuminated in. Excellence in design has had to give way to the "pop culture" of design. Even some great architects have caved in; designing buildings that focus more on iconism and gaining the attention of the public, than finding a balance between space, function and aesthetics in a constantly changing world.
In this blog I hope to look at buildings and designs that go beyond the Allianz Arena "how many colours can your stadium bubbles be illuminated in" fad, and make some effort to create timeless architecture without the need for frills and spills which become outdated after a few years.
